About
Left Bank Art Gallery is a free public gallery in Greymouth, run by the non-profit West Coast Society of Arts in a former Bank of New Zealand building from the 1920s, on the banks of the Grey River, Māwheranui. It holds a national collection of contemporary pounamu, displayed in the old bank vault, with works by carvers from around the country, including pieces from the New Zealand Contemporary Stone Awards.
The main gallery runs changing exhibitions of West Coast painting, prints, photography, sculpture and craft, and the gallery shop sells locally made jewellery, pounamu, carvings, ceramics and textiles. It is open Tuesday to Saturday.
