Whānau-owned Christchurch design store in the BNZ Centre, and an authentic Ngāi Tahu Pounamu stockist, with work from 200+ local and Māori designers.

About
HAPA is a whānau-owned local design store in Christchurch, with a shop in the BNZ Centre on Cashel Street in the central city. It focuses on local and Māori design, showcasing more than 200 New Zealand designers and artists, and is an official stockist of Authentic Ngāi Tahu Pounamu, so its pounamu jewellery carries Ngāi Tahu’s mark of authenticity.
Alongside pounamu, HAPA stocks jewellery, artwork, prints, ceramics, homewares, bags and gifts, much of it handmade, limited edition or one-off, including a range of exclusive HAPA designs. Staff are known for helping visitors choose a special gift, and purchases can be beautifully gift wrapped.
HAPA first opened in October 2011 in Christchurch’s Re:START container mall after the earthquakes, opened its BNZ Centre store in May 2018, and also runs a second store at The Tannery in Woolston, a heritage boutique shopping centre on the banks of the Heathcote River.
