About
Hannah Sheehan is an Auckland jeweller and jade carver who grew up in the Rotorua workshop of her father, John Sheehan, founder of Mountain Jade. She began carving as a teenager and, largely self taught as a silversmith, now makes contemporary pieces from a shared studio, pairing hand faceted stone with silver.
Pounamu is at the heart of her work, alongside pakohe and other stones such as Canadian jade, Australian black jade and New Zealand jasper, which her stockists name separately. Her pieces are sold through Mountain Jade, The Poi Room, Moko Pounamu and Royal Jewellery Studio rather than from a public shopfront.
