Eszter Szigethy (Jade Pebble)

Jade Pebble is the studio of Auckland stone artist Eszter Szigethy, who hand-carves unique, mostly one-off pieces in New Zealand pounamu. Her work ranges from pendants and earrings to larger chest pieces, often in translucent and patterned stone varieties such as inanga, kawakawa, Marsden and flower jade.

Eszter was born in Hungary and trained in architecture in Budapest before settling in Aotearoa. Her work combines a strong sense of line, proportion and balance with an interest in traditional design and the natural world of New Zealand. She brings together her European heritage, Kiwi lifestyle and multicultural influences in designs such as her kawakawa leaf hearts and fluid, contemporary toki pendants, bringing new shapes to traditional forms.

Jade Pebble primarily works on personalised orders, creating one-off pieces for particular people and occasions. Orders can be placed through the Jade Pebble website, Instagram or Facebook page. Her work is also sold online and shipped worldwide, and also stocked at Fingers Contemporary Jewellery in Auckland.
